running in minutes

On shared hosting you get an account on a machine with hundreds of others, and the resources move around depending on who is busy. Here you get a virtual machine with its own kernel, its own memory and its own CPU allocation. Nobody else can consume what is yours, and you get root, which shared hosting will never give you.

The one closest to the people who will use the site. For a Pakistani audience, Nuremberg and Falkenstein usually give the best round trip. For customers in North America, pick Ashburn or Hillsboro. Singapore is the shortest hop for South-East Asia. The plan sizes are the same everywhere, only the price and the included transfer change.

For a self-managed server, broadly yes — you will be installing packages, configuring a firewall and applying updates. If that does not appeal, add management to any plan and we handle the maintenance while you keep root. Plenty of customers start self-managed and switch once they realise how they actually want to spend their evenings.

You can move up between sizes whenever you like. Your data stays exactly where it is and the change takes a single reboot, usually under a minute. Moving down is possible too, though it needs a little more care if the disk is close to full.

Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Fedora and openSUSE, plus ready-made images for WordPress, Docker, GitLab and Nextcloud. You can reinstall to a different one from the client area whenever the project changes direction. Reinstalling wipes the machine, so take a snapshot first if there is anything on it you want.

A snapshot captures the whole disk at a moment in time, which is what you want before a risky change. Backups are scheduled daily and rotated automatically. Both are stored away from the server itself, so a hardware failure does not take your recovery point with it.

Open the console from your client area. It gives you the server's screen and keyboard directly, exactly as if you were sitting in front of it, so you can fix a broken firewall rule or a bad fstab entry. There is also a rescue mode that boots a small recovery system without touching your disk.

Whatever is printed on the plan. Annual terms show the term rate and the renewal rate, and monthly terms carry no introductory discount at all. A renewal notice reaches you before any charge is made.
