Bandwidth & Resource Policy

This policy explains how bandwidth, storage and server resources work on HostElevate plans, so your site stays fast and the servers stay stable for everyone.

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Bandwidth

  • Each plan page shows the bandwidth included with that plan.
  • Where a plan says unmetered, there is no fixed monthly limit on traffic. It covers the normal traffic of the websites the plan is designed for.
  • Where a plan shows a fixed amount, that amount is your monthly allowance. If you regularly go over it, we will contact you about upgrading.
  • If a VPS uses more data transfer than its plan includes, we will contact you about an upgrade or extra transfer before anything is charged.

Server resources on hosting plans

Web, WordPress, WooCommerce and reseller hosting give every account its own share of CPU, memory, disk activity, running processes and files (inodes). The limits for each plan are listed on the plan page or are available from our support team.

When a site reaches a limit, it may slow down or briefly show a "Resource Limit Reached" error. This protects your site and your neighbors on the server. It does not mean your account is suspended.

Storage

Disk space is for the files, databases and email of the websites hosted on the account. It may not be used for:

  • personal file storage, archives or backups of other systems;
  • large downloads, videos or media that are not part of your websites; or
  • many old backups of your own sites kept in the account.

Email stored in your mailboxes counts toward your disk space.

Use that is not normal website use

  • File-sharing, download mirrors or public file hosting
  • Audio or video streaming servers
  • Using the plan as a content delivery network for other sites
  • Torrents, proxies or VPN services
  • Cryptocurrency mining
  • Game servers on shared hosting

Monitoring and what we do

We monitor server resources automatically. If an account keeps affecting the server or other customers, we will:

  1. contact you and explain what we found;
  2. suggest fixes, such as caching, smaller images or blocking aggressive bots; and
  3. suggest a plan that fits your traffic, if that is the better option.

If there is an urgent risk to the server, we may limit the account straight away and contact you. We suspend an account only for serious or repeated problems.

Tips to stay within your limits

  • Turn on caching. On WordPress, use the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.
  • Compress and resize images before you upload them.
  • Block aggressive bots and crawlers you do not need.
  • Delete old files, backups and email you no longer need.
  • Run cron jobs only as often as your site needs.
