Is website migration really free?
Yes. When you host with HostElevate, our engineers move your website, databases and email at no extra cost. There is no separate migration fee on your invoice.
How long does a website migration take?
It depends on the size of your site and how it is set up. Once you send your details, we check your account and confirm a migration time with you before we start, so you know exactly when it will happen.
Will my website go down during the migration?
Your site stays online at your current host while we copy it and test it on our servers. The only change is the final DNS switch, which we schedule with you. DNS updates can take a few hours to reach everyone, so keep your old hosting active until we confirm the move is complete.
What do I need to send you?
Your current hosting login (cPanel or similar) or a full backup, plus access to your domain registrar if you would like us to update the DNS for you. Please send these through a support ticket in your client area, not by email or live chat.
Can you migrate my email accounts and old emails?
Yes. We recreate your mailboxes and forwarders on the new server and copy the messages already inside them, so your inbox looks the same after the move.
Do you migrate WordPress and WooCommerce websites?
Yes. We move the files, database, plugins, themes and settings, update the site configuration for the new server, and check that pages, logins and checkout work before we switch your domain.
Can you move a VPS or a reseller account?
Yes. We move shared hosting, WordPress sites, reseller accounts and cloud VPS servers. For a reseller account we move each client account across, and for a VPS we move your sites and databases to your new HostElevate Cloud server.
Which hosting providers and control panels can you migrate from?
Any host. Moves from cPanel are the quickest because we can restore a full account backup. We also move sites from Plesk, DirectAdmin, other control panels and servers without a panel.
Will moving my website affect my Google rankings?
Not when the move is done properly. Your domain, URLs and content stay the same, so search engines see the same website. We also make sure SSL is working on the new server before the switch, so nothing falls back to http.
Do I need to transfer my domain to HostElevate?
No. Your domain can stay where it is registered. We only need its DNS or nameservers pointed to your new account. You can transfer it to us later if you want everything in one place.
Is my data safe during the migration?
We work from a copy and never delete anything on your old host. Your current site stays untouched until you are happy with the new one. After the move, we recommend changing any passwords you shared with us.
